DIY Beach Tote – Arm Party Central

When I was little, anytime I asked for something, my Dad would first say ‘Is it something that we can make?’. Now, let’s be clear, I didn’t always get what I wanted but, as long as I was willing to get creative and try to make it with him, he was more willing. As I have gotten older, I’ve realized that it’s not always cheapest to make it yourself, but damnit it’s more about the fun of spending time together, being creative, learning how to make something and feeling accomplished. Look at the lesson my Dad snuck in there, what a guy! Wow, did this just become a Fathers Day post? Yep, sure did and I didn’t even plan it. Big smile on my face. Thank you for all you have taught me. I get the best parts of me, from YOU! Love you Pops!

My Dad & I, on my wedding day.

ANYWAYS – While I was getting ready for our trip this past winter, I was coveting this Misa Los Angeles bag from Revolve.com. It’s amazing, but the price wasn’t so much. CONFESSION: I am a cheap bitch. So, I thought for sure I could make it for tons cheaper. Where I sit today? Time over money, honey, but alas, I was determined.

So, I started searching on amazon for a bag (here), stencils, tassels etc. Easier said than done. I ultimately decided to just make my own stencil and tassels. Since we were going to the Seychelles Islands, I decided on ‘island vibes’ for the saying. I literally spent most of my time making the stencil and it was NOT EASY. I ended up printing off the saying and layering packing tape over it so it was thick enough, to not be flimsy, then cut out the letters (making sure to leave the negative space intact). The tassels were easy enough with this tassel tutorial. Then added a little spray paint & string detail on the handles and a puffy paint pattern on the bottom, et voila! At the end of the day, I am proud that I made something just like my dad taught me. But, the logical side of me looks at how much time and money I spent… $103 for the tote would have been entirely worth it.

xoxo, totes awesome.

DIY: Halloween

Gold Foil Embellishment - Pumpchic

Gold Foil Embellishment – Pumpchic

Who says halloween has to be all black and orange?? I decided to take halloween and chic-it-up! With a little creativity and pattern play, I was able to take the boring pumpkin and make it a ‘pumpchic’. I coated the pumpkins with spray paint, and hit up a craft store for fun supplies. I chose gold leaf, giant sequins and a black & gold sharpies. The designs are endless, so let your creativity soar and enjoy this fun pumpchic diy. xo, Emily

champetti diy.

Hi, my name is Emily and I am addicted to champagne and confetti.

Both are absolutely fabulous on their own, but combine the two and what do you get?? CHAMPETTI! It’s so easy and fun, to personalize and fabulize anything – a hostess gift, a bachelorette party or simply a monday!

Champetti DIY:

what you’ll need:

spray adhesive (I found mine at a craft store, near the gold leaf supplies but, this $5 can will do!product here)

Confetti/Glitter (I combined a few different confetti’s to get this look, product here and product here)

Champagne (I bought mini champagne bottles, but large champs will do! Or you could try wine, beer, pellagrino, whatever just have fun with it!)

Step 1: Gather supplies. Champagne, confetti & spray adhesive. Step 2: Spray adhesive onto champagne bottle (preferably outside). Step 3: Sprinkle the confetti on the bottle, pressing it on to make sure it’s adhered, then gently brush off the excess. Voila! fabulous Champetti!
